I myself am one among them.

It is important to understand the dynamics of how Google has promoted your competitors’ websites to the 1st Page. This will help you to have a Birds’ eye view of your strategy in align with your competitors’.

Title Tags

Title tags are one of the most important factors in SEO. It helps search engines understand “what you page is all about”. Title Tags are displayed in 3 Key areas

  • Search Engine Result Pages
  • Web Browser Tabs

List down all the Title Tags of the 10 results and identify the keywords used in the Title Tags

The keywords primarily used :

  • Digital Marketing
  • Online Courses

As you can see, there are 2 different content types that google is preferring.

  1. Listicles type  ( Featured Snippet and the 4th result ) – The title suggest that it provides you with a list of options to choose from.
  2. The regular Landing Page Title

This will provide you with the underlying area of how Google is targeting the Titles to select the pages in order to rank.

Content Length

Though there is no evidence that content length has an impact over the rankings. By analysing over the past few years, long content is highly preferred by Google. This applies for information related keywords.

The avg content length is about 500-1000 words for the ranking pages.

Text to HTML Ratio

The ideal Text to HTML ratio is anywhere between 40 – 50%.

Identify the Text to Html ratio and compare if your website is reaching the benchmark. If not, take action.

Image Alt Tags

Google can read the text but not Images.

It can only see pixels in images. Hence, it is required to describe the image so that Google can understand the context and help to bind the image in its repository.ALT TEXT – It can either be done manually through HTML or if you are using CMS, you have options to write the alt text.Providing keyword-based alt text can have a slight difference.

Look for

  • Domain Authority of the backlinks
  • Do-follow Domains
  • Anchor Texts
  • Frequency of the backlinks being indexed

Tip: Look for the top 5 anchor texts used. Anchor text-based backlinks are highly recommended by Google.
